The 2012 Dam Short Film Festival was a great success! Many thanks to all the filmmakers, attendees, staff members, and volunteers that made this year one of the best ever. This year’s fest broke attendance records, and the 2013 season is looking to be even better!

While there are a few post-fest items that still need addressing, we’re anxious to get rolling for next year. So, much earlier than expected, we are now accepting entries for the 2013 fest!

The 2013 DSFF will run February 6-9, 2013, and will accept entries in Student, Documentary, Comedy, Drama, Sci-Fi/Horror, Nevada Filmmaker, and Animation categories, as well as a brand new category, Music Video. We recognize that Music Videos are a specialized form of short filmmaking and we’re all very excited about the new addition to the programming lineup.

You want awards? We got ‘em. In addition to the traditional Audience Choice Awards at the DSFF which you know and love, in 2013 we’re working on creating a Jury Panel Award in each category, to be awarded by a carefully selected panel of filmmakers and industry professionals. More details to come in the months ahead.

So, while we’re working on creating the best festival experience yet, complete with sweet film programs, awesome parties, and informative and fun events you’ll remember, it’s time to do your part: submit your film. Everyone knows that the DSFF is a festival for filmmakers and about filmmakers, and we can’t wait to see what you’ve created!

Submit early and save–the Earlybird Deadline for the 2013 Season is June 15th, 2012.

Dam Short Film Festival executive director Lee Lanier is attending the Cinequest Film Festival March 7-11. If you’re in San Jose, CA, stop by and say “hi.” He’ll  be keeping his eye out for new short films for the 2013 fest, so don’t be shy. You can find him at the screenings of his own short film, “Blood Roulette,” which is part of the Mindbenders program.
