Passing the Torch

My name is John LaBonney, and I’m proud to announce that I have been appointed Director of the Dam Short Film Festival!

I’ve been working in the office for several weeks now, familiarizing myself with festival operations, meeting some of the wonderful people here in Boulder City, and working to put a few new enhancements in place. While I hope to streamline some of the behind-the-scenes mechanics, it’s my primary goal to continue the DSFF in the same spirit that founder Lee Lanier has over the years: with a love of short films and honor for those that make them.

It wasn’t long ago that one of my films screened at the DSFF, and before that I attended the festival as an audience member. I’ve been to numerous film festivals in the region and the DSFF has repeatedly proven to be the best experience of them all. I look forward to continuing this great tradition, and I appreciate the confidence shown in me by Lee and the Board of Directors. Breathe easy though; Lee isn’t going anywhere. He’ll continue to oversee the festival as Executive Director while I manage day-to-day operations.

One enhancement we’re working hard on now is this new website. I hope you will check in often and stay in touch with all the happenings at the DSFF!
